This workshop consists of five painting days in the Tuscan hills in and around the quaint village of Iano. Open for beginners to advanced, instruction will be in pen & ink sketching, oil and acrylic painting. Participants may work in any media with technique demonstrations and discussions daily. Emphasis will be on drawing, composition, color mixing, plein-air techniques with individual critiques several times during the workshop. Instruction will also include photographic techniques including digital for use as an aid and reference in painting.
We will explore the architecture and beauty of the Tuscan landscape working each day from 9:30 to noon, then a catered gourmet lunch brought to the painting site. Some days we’ll be able to sample the fare from village pizzerias and restaurants. We’ll resume painting in the afternoon until around 4:00 PM. We will paint five days beginning on September 19th. Late afternoons and evenings are free to stroll and dine in Iano or make the short drive to the hill towns of Volterra, San Gimigiano, or to Montaione for dinner. There is a large indoor facility for our painting in the event of inclement weather or for anyone to continue painting in the late afternoon. We encourage participants to take advantage of being in Italy and coming early or staying after to visit and further enjoy Tuscany or other European destinations.
Our workshop home will be at charming and delightful “Borgoiano” (www.Borgoiano.com) where we’ll enjoy a large beautiful swimming pool, a clay tennis court and an incredible view of the Tuscan countryside. There are mountain bikes available for all guests and a nearby golf course with special rates for Borgoiano guests. Cooking classes are also available for non-painters.
The price of the workshop is(to be announced soon) per person (based on double occupancy) and includes a minimum of 30 hours of instruction, a welcome cocktail party, lunches each painting day, and a Tuscan Cuisine farewell dinner!
